I was born and raised in the United States and recently moved to Krakow with my husband Marcin and our 2 year old daughter Margo. I studied child psychology and volunteered for a Womens and Childrens association. I have a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate and I am (slowly) learning Polish. 🙂
My interests are in developmental psychology, mindfulness, art and culture. As a mother in a foreign country I have discovered a need for supportive integration and a sense of community that I hope to create at One World.
I have lived in the beautiful city of Krakow all of my life. During my work in a corporation I had the pleasure of working in a multicultural environment and discovered the difficulties that are associated with moving abroad with a family. Now as a mother I am passionate about creating a space I can continue my work in a multicultural environment in addition to raising my two young daughters Liliana and Natalia with the opportunity to learn new languages and celebrate different cultures.
My story …
Hi my name is Olga . I’m the mom of two incredible sons. We immigrated to Poland from Ukraine two years ago. Like many stories of immigration, our journey wasn’t easy but we did it together – me and my kids. After a while, other women started to ask me how I did it. They would ask why I did not leave my kids with my mom, since moving to a new country with kids is so hard. I always say that my kids are growing too fast to stay with other people, and no amount of money can compensate time without mom! I organize my project “Mama Imigrantka” ( mama immigrant “ ) to talk about my experience and to share the mistakes I made during this experience! I also wrote a book about our story. My goal is to help woman feel safe and not alone in their time of immigration! If I could do it, then so can you, and our center will help you in this process! Together we can accomplish anything!
I come from Ukraine, and this is where I got my first degree in English Language and Literature. I worked as a cross-cultural facilitator with Peace Corps in Ukraine, taught ESL to adults and children, and coordinated two educational projects in Ukraine before doing my Master’s in Education at Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2014. A year later my husband and I moved to Cracow, and I had a chance to work at an IB bilingual kindergarten as an English-speaking teacher. I am a mother of a 2-year old son and I love re-discovering the world with him.
